About Me
In June 2020, I retired from California’s third-largest preK-12 public school system, Long Beach Unified School District, as Deputy Superintendent of Education Services.
I started my 34-year career as a Spanish bilingual classroom teacher before becoming an elementary school principal and director of elementary schools. I also have 16 years of experience overseeing human resource services for LBUSD, Long Beach’s largest employer.
Building relationships, community, culture, and systems in service to students are top priorities. My experience expands from recently leading LBUSD’s superintendent search to developing aligned evaluation systems across both classified and certificated groups within the workforce while handling day-to-day HR issues.
Philosophy
My philosophy on leadership is to enhance organizational culture by building capacity through a lens of equity, inclusion, ethics, and interconnectedness.
